Every day in America, enough food is thrown away to feed every hungry person in the country. Community Food Rescue, Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina's GO GREEN Program, gathers and distributes perishable foods such as produce, dairy, restaurant and bakery items that might otherwise be thrown away. The food is picked up daily and delivered at no cost on the same day to agencies that feed on site.

Almost 4 million pounds of food are saved annually through Community Food Rescue. CFR serves Mecklenburg and the immediately surrounding area through the Second Harvest Food Bank main warehouse and through a branch site in Davidson, NC.
