Family Dollar "Family of Hope Foundation" to hold 2-week Food & Clothing Drive

A Message from Howard

Five years ago, Family Dollar launched the FamilyHope Team Member Foundation to provide assistance to Team Members affected by disasters such as fires, flood, tornados, hurricanes and other qualifying hardships. Since then, the fund has grown to more than $2 million, distributed more than $600,000 in aid, and helped more than 370 Team Members.

Now, we have an opportunity to give hope to families in the communities we serve. Today, I’m proud to introduce the FamilyHope Community Foundation. The FamilyHope Community Foundation will support the non-profit organizations working to meet the basic needs of people who are in crisis in the communities served by our stores, where are distribution centers are located, and here in Charlotte, our home town.

While there is a similarity of focus, there is a significant difference between this fund and the FamilyHope for Team Members. The FamilyHope Community Foundation will be completely funded by the Company, our partners and our customers. The community foundation will not use any of the dollars collected for the Team Member foundation. The chart below will help illustrate the differences in how we are supporting Team Members and our customers.

Like the foundations of other major retailers, the FamilyHope Community Foundation was established to support our brand, focus our community giving efforts and most of all, give hope to people in the communities we serve.

To celebrate this new foundation, we are holding a two week clothing and food drive to benefit Crisis Assistance Ministry and Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina here in Charlotte. Look for additional information in the Wednesday Water Cooler and on the Red Zone. Family Dollar has always taken pride in giving back to the community. Today we have a new, branded program that truly reflects our commitment to the families in the communities that we serve every day.

To Family Dollar, family matters most of all.
