Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina Honors Philanthropist Anne Springs Close For the Fifth Straight Year
Over 100,000 Pounds of Food Will Be Distributed Throughout the Springs Close Foundation's Service Area in Honor of What Would Have Been Anne's 100th Birthday
(Charlotte, NC, November 22, 2025) – Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina has announced its intent to again honor the late philanthropist Anne Springs Close by distributing over 100,000 pounds of food throughout The Springs Close Foundation’s service area during the months of November and December.
The Springs Close Foundation, under Anne’s leadership and that of her children, has been one of Second Harvest’s most significant donors for decades. Their support has included helping to establish the senior box programs and backpack programs in York, Lancaster, and Chester counties.
Since 2005 The Springs Close Foundation, as well as Anne’s children, have donated over three million dollars to support the Food Bank’s work to end child and senior hunger. “Anne was my hero and set an example we should all follow in showing love and compassion for our neighbors in need,” said Kay Carter, CEO of Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina. “We could think of no better tribute to her than distributing fresh produce and staple foods to seniors and children in her beloved Fort Mill and beyond.”
The distributions will benefit the following agencies/partners of Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina:
- November 24th - Fort Mill Community Food Distribution at Fort Mill Middle School
- December 3rd - HOPE (Rock Hill, SC)
- December 11th - Christian Services (Lancaster, SC)
- December 16th - Dorothy Day Soup Kitchen (Rock Hill)
