General Information About Giving Food
Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina is a crucial link between available food and those who need it most. Local and national producers have excess food that may otherwise go to waste for lack of a way to deliver it to those in need. In a similar way, smaller nonprofits face logistical issues and increasing demand for services. Our expertise, partnerships with smaller agencies and warehouse facilities allow needs to be met every single day.
The Hard Truth
The bottom line is that our food gets into the hands of the needy, the hungry, and the malnourished. As far away as this may sound from where you sit, in 2015 42.2 million Americans lived in food insecure households, including 29.1 million adults and 13.1 million children; and 13 percent of households (15.8 million households) were food insecure according to Feeding America.
