Come alone or with a friend! Bring your co-workers, your family, your friends! One hour of your time provides the Food Bank with $20.85 in labor savings.
Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina schedules volunteers weekdays, Thursday evenings and the second and fourth Saturday mornings. Monday through Friday, there are two shifts, 9 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. If you can only work two hours, we prefer 9 .a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday evenings are 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The second and fourth Saturday mornings, we work 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Training begins promptly at the start of each shift. Please arrive a few minutes early to allow time for signing in and making a nametag. We also suggest carpooling as weekday parking is limited especially in the morning. Training and materials are provided for all volunteer tasks.
Children 12 years of age are welcome to come with their parents on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. For ages 13-16, we ask for one adult for every six teens. Ages 17 and up may come on their own, but no one under 18 is permitted to operate any equipment, including pallet jacks. We are glad to provide documentation for community service hours needed for school.
We are currently recruiting volunteers for Taste of the Nation from 5 to 10 p.m.on Wednesday, April 13th, at the Wells Fargo Atrium.
