This is the thirteenth annual nationwide "Fight Hunger. Spark Change." Campaign. The campaign will run in-store and online from April 6 to May 3, 2026.

Three ways YOU can help fight hunger in your local community during the campaign:

  • Purchase Participating Products:Customers and members can purchase participating products in stores and clubs or online or donate. One item purchased in-store or online at Walmart equals one meal* secured on behalf of Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina: 1 item = 1 meal. One item purchased in-club or online at Sam’s Clubequals five meals secured on behalf of Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina: 1 item = 5 meals.

  • Donate In Store: Customers and members can donate the amount of their choice at staffed registers and self-checkouts ($1 helps secure at least 10 meals on behalf of local Feeding America Food Bank – Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina. This year on-line shoppers can also “round up”!

  • Online Donation:Customers and members can donate the amount of their choice online at www.feedingamerica.org/walmart or www.feedingamerica.org/samsclub.
    • All donations made from sales in stores and clubs will be made on behalf of Feeding America member food banks – like Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina and will stay in the communities serviced by them.

Hunger Statistics

  • Hunger in America is much closer than you may think. In Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina’s 24 county service region (14 counties in NC and 10 in SC), there are almost 493,000 people who live with food insecurity each and every day – this includes over 153,300 children and 73,000 seniors.

  • Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina provides food for over 950 partner agencies including soup kitchens like Urban Ministries, emergency pantries like Nourish Up, homeless shelters like Center of Hope, senior programs, low-income daycares, veterans assistance organizations and animal rescues.

  • Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina has programming that directly serves our hungry neighbors – Child Hunger Programs including Backpack Program and Kids Café Program; Senior Hunger Programs including Second Helping and Fresh Produce Markets; School-Based Mobile Pantries and Rural Mobile Pantries for Families and so much more.
