Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation Awards Emergency Grant to Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina
The Nourishing our Neighbors grant provides immediate relief to help address rising demand for food assistance
CHARLOTTE (NC) – Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina has received an emergency grant of $140,000 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to help meet a growing need for food assistance across our community.
As more families face the daily pressure of putting nutritious meals on the table, food banks and feeding partners are seeing a significant increase in visitors seeking support. Concerns about food insecurity are heightened during this time, and the Foundation is stepping up to provide immediate relief to ensure shelves stay stocked and neighbors have access to nourishing food.

The emergency “Nourishing our Neighbors” grant will help Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina provide food and critical resources to individuals and families experiencing hunger, supporting our shared mission to ensure everyone in our community is nourished.

In FY 2024-2025, Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina distributed over 88 million pounds of food and household items, which included over 54 million pounds of fresh produce, meat, and dairy, to over 950 hunger feeding agencies including emergency pantries, soup kitchens, senior programs, shelters and low- income daycares.
