Listeners were encouraged to stop by the WFNZ Coca-Cola Doghouse, to donate canned goods, turkeys and monetary donations for hunger relief in the Charlotte community.

WFNZ’s Chris McClain and T-Bone from the Mac Attack Show (6a.m.-10a.m.), Nate and QCB from The Call Up (10 a.m. to Noon), Frank Garcia and Mark Yarbro from Bustin’ Loose (Noon to 3 p.m.) and Prime Time with Chris Kroeger (3 p.m. – 7 p.m.) helped to collect over 1,000 turkeys, generated $12,000 in monetary donations and 10,000 pounds of food to help the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina and the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry.

“Street Turkeys has become a staple in the community over the past 14 years because we have the best listeners in the state and we are truly appreciative for the thousands of dollars and tons of food donations they generously give each year,” said Operations Manager/Program Director D.J. Stout. “We are also very thankful for all of our volunteers that help everything go so smoothly, to help raise awareness about the need to feed the hungry. This year’s Street Turkeys event was the biggest ever!”

Sports Radio 610 AM and 102.5 FM partnered with the Charlotte Hornets, team executives, Honey Bees and team mascot Hugo all volunteered on site to assist with the food collection. Through their partnership with the Hornets, Food Lion Feeds donated 500 turkeys to this year’s campaign.
